For the first week of the semester, my tutor gave me feedback on my app and brand guidelines. There were no problems with Flare’s brand guidelines, meaning no changes had to be made. As for the Flare app, it was mentioned how my UI design skills have improved, however, there are some adjustments that could be made, especially the resizing of icons and the alignment of the body text. Besides these changes, my next job is to start creating hi-fi prototypes and apply the brand to the wireframes.
Throughout the wireframes, I am focused on creating a visual UI that encourages users to interact. The wireframes look clean and consistent, with a clear emphasis on the primary colours of the colour palette. The use of navy, purple, and pink highlights various areas which would stand out. For example, the icons, and the call-to-action buttons follow the same pattern to ensure the outlook of the app stays and looks consistent. From semester one to the current semester, there are no changes at the moment (in terms of the UI). However, as I continue to refine the app, I will proceed to improve the UI and UX by creating a smoother experience and interaction. Although I am still building the app, the majority of the UI will be replaced with images and illustrations which is why a few of the wireframes look bare - I am focusing on setting up an initial idea of how the app should look.
For the Doctors section, I’ve also decided to follow the same UI pattern as the patient’s section, this is so the overall app will stay and look consistent throughout each display. Focusing on the first mockup, after evaluating which screens I can configure, I thought the layout could be improved. With the notification element, the user can quickly see who they are booking an appointment with. This makes the booking process clearer and more refined. This change in layout helps provide a better user experience while going through the booking process.
In the next few weeks, as I continue to develop the hi-fi prototype, providing an accurate representation of the app's final design will allow me to test the app's functionality when pursuing a user test or during the design development.
