Sketches

After tutorials, re-sketched the chosen brand and replaced it with what was inside the circle by redrawing different ways I can present a baby inside of the womb. I went through 25 versions, each version would either have a sketch of a baby’s head or a compound shape (or separate shape) of the baby's body. As you see, I was mostly leaning towards the body shape as it entails the identity of the brand the most. Most of the sketches are taken from the first draft of the logo mockups but are updated with slight changes. For example, number 6 is a variation from a logo mockup, but this time I've replaced the nose with an ear, as well as changing the body shape since the original version doesn't look visually pleasing.

Other than choosing number 6 as my favourite sketch, I also chose design numbers 15, 17, 18, 23 and 25. I then narrowed it down to 6, 23 and 25. I chose these sketches because of their simplicity. It does not overpower the circular base, making it fit right in with the overall outlook.

Final Brand

The final mockup I have chosen is number 6. After fixing the curves of the circle, the logo looks more complete, neat and smart. I made small adjustments from the original mockup, the ear adds an extra touch to the logo - it looks effective with this further detail.

To visualise how the brand would look against different colour backgrounds, I have put it against the palette’s dark purple colour and black background. The purple backdrop looks the best, mainly as the lighter part of the logo goes well with the dark contrast. The light purple on the logo and wordmark will also be changed to white. This will also be added to my grand guidelines as part of the requirement when using the brand.

In conclusion, I am happy with this outcome, comparing it to the initial logo, this logo has more of a personality and represents the identity, meaning the audience will able to reciprocate the different components of the baby bump, baby and the flick of the flare.

Other Versions

Although these versions were not chosen, I was also pleased with the outcome. The first version was a close contender, especially Version 1 - adjusted. I like how the shape reciprocates a heart and the baby’s body. It makes the overall logo look bubbly and fun but still simplistic.

As for Version 2, it is another simple design, however, but it doesn't showcase as much momentum as the other versions. Although I do like the dark outline that curves around the component. But by doing this, it also looks repetitive, meaning the circular base wouldn't look or feel unique. Instead, it could be used as a separate logo or icon.
