The first section showcases real eczema brands. Personally, they don't look interesting to me, but ‘itchy’ and ‘miiskin’ does convey the purpose of the brand. I do feel like they can be refined more to make them stand out which is why I am creating a brand that will give eczema logos more identity.
Real Eczema App brands
I am aiming towards a simplistic brand style. I don't want to create a logo that is overwhelmed with elements. I think the brand could either have solid elements or line elements and personally I think line drawings would help make the brand look simple and easy to convey by incorporating pregnancy and eczema. I have looked at healthcare, eczema and pregnancy logos. Even general inspiration like the three-tone monograms at the bottom. I think the main challenge of developing this brand is understanding how I can incorporate these keywords into one monogram. As I said, I don’t want to overcrowd and place all keyword elements together, which is why I should have a straightforward idea when developing the design.
For the colour palette of the brand, I have generated three palettes, each displaying an even tone of colours. The focus was to create a palette that looks fun but is also sensible where it is not off-putting. I like all colour palettes and in the end, I have chosen the second colour palette due to the many variations of dark and light tones I could play around with when developing the brand and the product.
As for the typefaces, I also have another three to choose from. All the typefaces look simple and bouncy/fun looking but are also causal and sensible. They may look similar but the one that I have leaned towards the most is Alata. Alata has only one font, however, it does stand out and is created for titles/headings, which is perfect for my brand. It is not overwhelming to look at and is easy to grasp.
Since Alata has only one font, I had to choose another typeface to use for hearings and body content, which is why I have chosen Be Vietnam Pro. I figured that Be Vietnam Pro is more text-like which is why I thought this typeface would be the best example for displaying content.
